Welcome, Assistant Principal Reichard!
Mr. Reichard joins the Shrevewood Elementary community with over twelve years of experience in elementary education, professional development, and teacher leadership. A native of Northwestern Pennsylvania and the eldest of five siblings, Mr. Reichard holds a degree in Elementary Education (K-6) from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. After relocating to Virginia, he taught third and fifth grade for nine years at Kate Waller Barrett Elementary in Stafford County, before earning a Master’s in Education Leadership (PK-12) from George Mason University.
In addition to his classroom experience, Mr. Reichard spent three years as the coordinator of Stafford County Public Schools’ Mentor 360 program, where he focused on supporting and developing new teachers. Inspired by his high school chorus teacher, Dan has made it his professional mission to ensure that every student experiences outstanding teaching and learning every day.
From his work as the teacher of the "Room 21 Rock Stars" at Kate Waller Barrett Elementary to leading the development of a beginning teacher support program, Mr. Reichard is guided by his core values of community, optimism, and excellence. His leadership has earned him several honors, including being named a 2023 ASCD Emerging Leader, the 2019 Virginia Region III Teacher of the Year, and the 2019 Indiana University of Pennsylvania Young Alumni Achievement Award. He was also recognized as the 2018 Washington Post Teacher of the Year.
In his personal time, Mr. Reichard enjoys spending time with his family, exploring new destinations, hiking in the national parks, and cheering on his favorite Pittsburgh teams—the Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates. Mr. Reichard is thrilled and honored to serve the students, staff, and families of Shrevewood Elementary, with a focus on building strong relationships, fostering student engagement through high-quality instruction, and ensuring equity for all.
Please join me in welcoming Mr. Reichard to our Shrevewood family!
